Know The Different Types Of Cross Stitch Kits
There’s a lot of items and reasons to enjoy when you’re shopping at crafts stores. However, not everyone may find it easy to choose the correct fabric, thread, kit, or pattern to use. For cross stitch kits, there are a few types that you can choose from. And by familiarizing with each type, you’ll be able to identify the right one for your next project.
Below are the 4 types of cross stitch kits:
* Embellished Cross Stitch Kit
This type of kit usually has the design printed on the fabric. The finished product, on the other hand, only has a few sections that need to be accented or cross stitched.
This type of kit allows you to cross stitch faster since you don’t have to stitch the full print. However, it is typical that the printed patterns on the fabric are not straight. Not everyone likes the finished product, though, since they are not as good as non-embellished cross stitch.
* Counted Cross Stitch Kit
This type of kit has stitches done on a blank aida cloth. In order to determine the stitches’ location on the aida cloth, you need to use the chart included in the kit. You may refer to your pattern in starting your mid stitch on the fabric. By counting the number of stitches of the symbol of the pattern, you can place the actual stitches on the fabric.
Stiches on the aida cloth usually look uniform for counted cross stitch kits; thus, making the finished works more appreciable. One caveat is that you may lose count while stitching, so be mindful of the possible errors. You can pull out the stitches from the fabric to correct the error and make sure to re-check your stitch count.
* No-count Cross Stitch Kit
For this type of kit, the stitching outlines are printed on the fabric and a chart represents the color that you need to fill in with “x” stitches.
You can work faster with this kit because you don’t need to locate the point of the first stitch and where to stitch the next. However, it is similar to embellished cross stitch kit because there are times that the printed pattern on the fabric is not straight; resulting to crooked stitches.
* Stamped Cross Stitch Kit
You can easily make the actual stitches using the right threads for this kit since the fabric is printed with a colored design. Stamped cross stitch kits are beneficial mostly for simple designs that call for fewer colors.
It is possible to disregard a chart or pattern to located the stitches when using this type of kit. In contrast to counted cross stitch, it is likely to have error-free stitches when you use this type of kit. One bad thing about this type is that if the printed colors on the fabric are very similar, it will be difficult to determine the exact shade or color to use.
If you are new to cross stitching, it is best to try out simple cross stitch kits to help you learn the craft. The results usually vary from one type of kit to another, so as you progress, try out the other kits and see which one will fit your expertise and expectations the most.
